swaxM3U is a program I wrote to create .m3u playslists automatically from your folders. Use it in conjunction with swaxCD to play your music collection.

swaxM3U will scan your drive from any starting directory and automatically build playlists based on the directory name it finds the audio files in. Playlists will be saved in this directory or save all created playlists to one location. You also have the option to save all found audio files into one master playlist. Depending on what folder you begin searching, you can create playlists a number of different ways.

Because it saves the .m3u file based on the name of the directory, you must be aware that folders that have identical names will not save playlists properly. For example:

c:\country\favorites and c:\rock\favorites will conflict if you scan from c:\ (both would be named favorites.m3u).

How to use swaxM3U

• Select the audio formats to seach for using F6
• Enable Extended M3U if required under the Options menu
• Select extended M3U fields using F7
• Choose either a consolidated playlist or individual ones
  • each playlists will be saved in the parents' directory or they can be all saved to a specified folder
• Browse to the directory to begin recursively seaching
• Click Begin Search to find all the music files
• Click Create Playlist buttons to build the playlist files
• You can remove the path or drive letter from the Options menu

Note: Duplicate .m3u folder checking has been disabled. Any duplicate folders found will overwrite previous .m3u names. Version 1.0 will fix this.

• Create playlists with MP3, WMA, OGG, AAC, APE, FLAC audio

• Program options are saved to .ini file

Cavets

• Duplicate folder names probably will cause problems
• If you go out of your way to break this program, you probably will!
• Extended m3u time details might be off by a few seconds. Then again, who actually uses this anyway.
